Japanese Sickle

This Japanese sickle, or Kama, has proven more useful than I ever imagined. It will happily cut small amounts of cover crop, grain, or trim grass in tight areas where you might not want a weed whacker. Harvesting bundles of lemon balm, mint or comfrey happens quickly with this one. Works well for nettles, too.
The light duty is surprisingly light in hand and is best for immature grasses and weeds.
The medium weight is a good all-purpose and my own favorite. Light enough for grass, but a bit thicker than the light blade if you need to whack something a little tougher, like a mature bull thistle. What fun!
The medium weight also has a palm swell at the base of the handle for a better grip.
