A half moon hoe allows you to weed standing fully upright, no bending or chopping needed. By pulling the tool back toward you, it cuts  roots as if you were sweeping the floor. Great for small to medium weeds in cultivated ground.

Dewit Half Moon Hoe

For small to medium sized weeds in cultivated ground, the Dewit Half Moon Hoe is my own favorite pattern  of garden hoe  because it allows for a fully upright posture when weeding.

No bending or chopping required (though you can do a bit of chopping in a pinch).

Simply hold the tool like a broom and pull  the blade back toward you as you “sweep” away the weeds.

Because you only cut in one direction, this is a very accurate tool and easily works up to and around tender plants.

This tool is easy on the body as a slicing hoe, but is strong enough to do some light chopping.

Two sizes are available depending on your height.  We suggest a length that reaches your ear, or at minimum your shoulder.  If in doubt, order the longer one, you can always cut it down to length.
