180/1000 Grit Compact Sharpening Stone

This is an ideal sharpening stone for sickles, axes and machetes.

It is easier to hold in hand than our full size water stones, yet its thickness keeps your fingers clear of the blade you’re sharpening.  More details below.

Suehiro Compact Sharpening Stone

 

This double sided, compact sharpening stone will put a keen edge on your sickles, axes and machetes.

180 grit will restore a dull edge or remove nicks while the 1000 grit will leave a medium polish with a bit of “tooth” that we’ve found to work very well with our Japanese Sickles.

For axes, you may want to proceed to a higher grit stone in the 4000+ grit range, depending on what you’re cutting.

The size of this stone and the fact that it has two grits makes it very convenient and easy to use.

It is easier to hold than a full size sharpening stone, yet its thickness keeps your fingers away from the cutting edge of your tool.

This stone should be soaked in water for 10-20 minutes before use, and it’s nice to splash the stone periodically during use.

It can be hung to dry using the attached cord.
